(early) Focus Battery - medication management app

This is one of the earliest works of mine, I made during my University studies. After the first prototypes on android, and the lack of interest from Novartis (manufacturer of the ADHD medication) I abandoned this project because I needed to focus on my University studies more. Still, it's fun from a retrospective view, that I tried to fill the product manager role before even knowing about product management is a thing :D

Focus Battery is a medication manager app concept for adults and adolescents struggling with ADHD.

WHY?

Adult ADHD is a very common mental disorder on the Earth.

The pharmacotherapy is effective, but the symptoms make compliance more difficult.

Moreover, the stimulant medication after the concentration peak could worsen the symptoms! Imagine, that you suddenly become distracted, confused, irritated, and forget all your presentation in the middle of a late meeting. Is a real problem for every adult ADHD patient.

But the bad executive function is the main problem for this population, that's why we can’t expect the planning and timing from the patients.

FocusBattery helps to:

remember the intake
predict the "slow-down" side effect after the peak concentration
warns before the runout, to go to the pharmacy
can improve cognitive behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy effectiveness
if the patient consents the application could give:

feedback to the treating psychiatrist about the patient compliance,
feedback to the manufacturer about the product, and a direct channel for the customer
generates valuable psychopharmacological data for the researchers

My name is Bálint Kőszegi, an undergraduate psychologist, interested in mental health startups, science, technology and game design. Combined my knowledge about the topic with my personal experience, I working on concepts, witch could make the my fellow ADHD sufferers life easyer.

Taking two pills VS taking one LA (long effect) pill. After the peak, you could feel yourself even worse than without medication. This is fine if you are at home chilling, but terrible if you are in the middle of a presentation, and need all cognitive power. Most people with ADHD have hectic and not repetitive timetables, that's why the ability to plan the medication effect is crucial.

HOW?

The patient information leaflet doesn't even mention effect length, however, it is very easily predictable, using:

the exact intake time
the literature’s pharmacokinetics curve (see above)
some basic biometric data (eg.weight)
(maybe manual correction in case of atypical reaction)

The UI & User flow could be very simple:

Asking for basic health data
and choosing medication dosage and intake frequency

Usage:

The app can remind for intake if user activate this function
User can tap “I TOOK A PILL” button
Than fill a daily tasklist (optional)

Focus Meter: indicates the estimated active ingredient concentration on a scale of 1-100,
