About my hidden deepwork.studio-obsession🤩
Deepwork.studio is my favourite service DAO.
I lurking them almost a year ago.
The implicit promise of working in the way they do is one of the main reason why I quit from my old job in a private blockchain fintech company.
Extreme openness
Deepwork.studio is totally open about almost everything.
Salaries, incomes, workflows, skillsets, and some internal communication is totally open for everyone. This extreme openness is surprising even from the perspective of web3 mentality.
How extreme openness pays off?
So, I had the opportunity to see their automated notification about the internal dashboard:
As you can expect. Google Sheet link do not need any authorization.
Here you can see deepwork.studio’s internal metrics:
These are minimalistic and smart KPI-s, but let's be honest, it's possible to make them more fancy and insightful.
This was the eureka moment when I decided to create a dashboard for deep work, as my first contribution. And without any permission, communication or anything I was able to work with an organization’s internal database like it where an open source library on Github!
(And if you don't find this amazing, I’m highly disappointed. 🤨)
Building a dashboard-prototype
Even if I had “View only” authorization, I was able to dig into the links to other sources.
Then I had a crazy Idea, what if it's possible to connect with Looker Studio?
- If yes, I can create a live, high-fi prototype of a dashboard. This would illustrate the idea and my skills.
- If Deepwork.studio will see the potential value in it, we could go further. (edit from 2023, they saw it and invited for collaboration, but at that time I had another projects)
Possible next steps:
- a quick stakeholder interview and small research about their needs
- assess the possible data sources (maybe define, and implement new ones)
- finalize KPI-s
- Create a mobile-friendly, meaningful dashboard
- update the Discord bot’s link.
Building a dashboard-prototype
Sport activity data was complete and accessible, so I choose that for illustration.
